Scrubs
are occupying a wide area in Cyprus; as in the rest of Mediterranean
area ; You may find casual med. shrubs such as Salvia officinalis,
Lavenders or Junipers. During the British era, a number of shrubs
and trees including Eucalyptus et Casuarina were imported; being
adaptable to lowland dryness and salinity and growing fastyer than
natives. One of them is bushy Acacia with long leaves (A. cyanophylla)
it stabilizes sandy and dry areas. Others plants were also imported
for landscaping : a Bauhinia, a bushy Cassia, Parkinsonia aculeata,
an Apocynaceae, a Periploca or Vincetoxicum sp. and several others.
