Ladanum or Labdanum
Laudanum an Opium solution has nothing to do with Cistus. The substance produced by Cistus creticus subsp. creticus, which was gathered combing goat's hairs is ladanum (or labdanum). It is still a valuable and important commodity in perfumery, for its smell and as a fixing compound. It is still gathered in the traditional way around one village in Crete. The main commercial production is in Spain and France, from another species, C. ladanifer.

Cistus parviflorus ou creticus ?

C. creticus (also named C. incanus), or C. parviflorus
