Cistus & Rockroses (Helianthemum) are casual shrubs of med scrub. They belong to Cistaceae, family whose members have silkyand ephemeral (but numerous) Fl. and hairy, velvety and sometimes sticky leaves. Their cycle benefit from fire, and worst, their resin burn easily. They grow easily from seeds. Cistus Fl. shades range from white to pink and Lilac, sometimes with darker tip. They hybridize. Rockroses or Helianthemum are smaller with yellow, white, pink (even true red) Fl. Cistus are common around med basin and in Macaronesia, they can be found north up to Brittany.
