Another Rosaceae (Sarcopetrium
spinosum) a subshrub is important in the Cyprian Landscape, being
present everywhere from seasides to Pentadactylon summits. Being
quite spiny it is not browsed and protects a number of more palatable
plants such as Orchids and Bulbs. (See Orchids)
Its a common plant in the Middle East Area including Palestinia
and Jerusalem, and this is a plant that may have been used for the
Christ Crown of thorn.
