Rosularia sp. Kantara Castle
|
Walls and rocks have a rich flora. Growing
in fortifications of plain cities you can find Fumaria a strange
shrubby leguminosae (see seeds & vegetalia) and Hyoscyamus aureus
a toxic Solanaceae probably naturalised since the crusade times.
Pentadactylon tops are rocky; this is where the crusade castles
are standing: Buffavento, St Hilarion & Kantara. Growing in the
walls and rocks you can find the same sp. as in lowland walls accompanied
by a few endemics such as St Hilarion cabbage (Brassica hilarionis);
two Rosularia (rosette forming Crassulaceae, not unlike Sempervivum),
a Sedum and Arabis cypria looking like a pink-tinged version of
Arabis caucasica.
