Asiatic Buttercups (Ranunculus
asiaticus) are growing almost everywhere in Cyprus with 3 different
strains : yellow, white and red (a colour I haven't seen). In Karpaz
I found white tinged pink plants and yellow ones in Pentadactylon.
They all have silky Fl. and black stamens. These beautiful plants
are ancestors of Florist Ranunculus, which have been grown since
the Middle Age. Florist forms are very double, with stamen being
"changed" into petals..
